October Word of the Month: Spook

Lifestyle

October is here, and honestly, this might be my favorite month of the entire year.

There is just something about October that feels a little more magical.

The crisp mornings.
The changing leaves.
The cozy sweaters.
The candles burning in the evening.
Pumpkin everything.
Halloween movies.
Decorating the house.
Baking something warm in the kitchen.

And, of course, a little bit of spooky.

So naturally, my word for October is Spook.

Not scary. Not dark. Just the fun, cozy, slightly magical kind of spooky that makes this season so special.

My Favorite Season

I’ve always loved the feeling that comes with October.

It’s like the world gives us permission to slow down and lean into a little more whimsy.

The house gets decorated.

The kitchen smells like cinnamon and pumpkin.

The blankets come out.

The evenings get longer.

And suddenly, ordinary things feel a little more special.

A cup of coffee becomes a cozy fall ritual.

A walk through the neighborhood becomes a chance to admire everyone’s Halloween decorations.

A movie night becomes a whole event.

That’s what I love most about this season—the magic is in the little things.

Making Everyday Life a Little More Magical

This month, I want to fully embrace the things that make October feel like October.

I’m decorating my home with pumpkins, ghosts, candles, and all the cozy Halloween touches.

I’m making seasonal recipes.

I’m watching my favorite Halloween movies.

I’m baking.

I’m crafting.

I’m creating little traditions.

I’m finding excuses to make ordinary October days feel special.

Because I’ve learned that you don’t have to wait for a holiday or a big occasion to make life magical.

Sometimes you just have to decide that today is worth making special.

A Little Spooky, A Lot Cozy

My version of Halloween isn’t necessarily about being scared.

It’s about cozy magic.

Think warm blankets, candlelight, pumpkin bread, simmer pots, spooky movies, crisp evening walks, Halloween decorations, and a house that feels like the coziest place in the world.

It’s the kind of spooky that makes you want to stay home.

The kind that feels nostalgic.

The kind that reminds you of being a kid and believing that October was just a little bit different from every other month.

And maybe that’s why I love it so much.

My October Intentions

This month, I’m choosing to:

🎃 Embrace all things Halloween
🕯️ Make my home extra cozy
🍂 Enjoy the changing season
🍪 Bake seasonal treats
👻 Create fun Halloween traditions
🎬 Have plenty of spooky movie nights
🧵 Make seasonal crafts and DIYs
☕ Create cozy fall drinks
🌙 Slow down and enjoy crisp October evenings
✨ Find a little magic in the everyday

The Heart of October

October reminds me that growing up doesn’t mean we have to stop being playful.

We can still decorate the house just because it’s fun.

We can still get excited about Halloween.

We can still make silly crafts, bake themed treats, watch nostalgic movies, and romanticize the season.

We can still believe in a little magic.

Maybe especially as adults, we need those things.

Life can be serious enough.

So this month, I’m giving myself permission to be a little silly.

A little nostalgic.

A little spooky.

And completely obsessed with October.

Because if there’s one thing I’m going to do, it’s enjoy my favorite season to the absolute fullest.

Here’s to crisp mornings, cozy nights, pumpkin everything, Halloween traditions, and finding a little magic around every corner.

Happy October. 🎃👻🕯️

Let the spooky season begin.
